About Mad Hatter

Brianna Young, founder and chief designer for Mad Hatter Design + Media,  has made the web a more beautiful place since 2006. She attended school at Tulsa Community College for web design, and has worked with WordPress since the day she started designing websites.

Brianna is interested in a wide variety of industries and has experience in vocal and instrumental music, health care administration, retail sales, makeup artistry, painting, sewing and crafts, entrepreneurship, marketing, and blogging. Brianna’s varied experiences come from her desire to learn about the world around her and her longing for a well-rounded education in the school of life. Brianna is currently pursuing a degree in biology.

MH Design + Media employs a small team of coding and design professionals to help our clients get even more value from their website design.

Rates and Costs

We prefer to provide quotes for most of our projects, however, we do have a set hourly rate for website maintenance – see below. Hourly packages are eligible for a discounted rate. Just get in touch with us to talk about your needs.
Basic website maintenance (i.e. text updates, product entry, meta tag updates): $40 per hour
Website graphic updates: $50 per hour
1 hour minimum required for all maintenance projects.

Payment and Policies

We like to use Freshbooks to track our time and send invoices. We also accept checks and PayPal for payments in U.S. Dollars.

Mad Hatter requires payment in full for all projects totalling $300 USD or less. Projects more than $300 require a 50% deposit, though we do offer specials for those clients who wish to pay in full. Be sure to ask us about it when you get in touch! Some web design projects may require less than a 50% deposit. We will discuss this with you when we provide your project quote.

We will provide a written quote and a Terms and Conditions document to all clients. Initiating payment for a deposit or project acknowledges your acceptance of our Terms and Conditions. Our Terms and Conditions serve as protection for both the client and the designer.

Due to the nature of our business, we prefer to communicate via email. We do not accept phone calls unless we agree to a specific time to talk.

Refund Policy

Should our clients decide they want to kill a project, Mad Hatter reserves the right to charge a “kill fee” for work already completed. This includes any work related to the project, such as research, image sourcing, and content development. This fee can be up to 100% of the total project costs, depending on the amount of work done. Full refunds are granted only on a case-by-case basis. Mad Hatter reserves the right to determine when a refund is appropriate. If you do not agree to this refund policy, which is stated on the contract we provide each client before work begins, then you have the right to decline working with us.

Our Process

When you contact us, we will provide you with a list of questions about your project. Upon reviewing your answers to our questions, we will provide you with a project quote, which outlines the details of your project and all estimated costs. If you approve the quote, we will provide you with our Terms and Conditions document and we will send you an invoice for the amount agreed upon in the project quote. Upon payment of the deposit invoice, we will begin work on your project. Timelines vary depending on the nature of your project.

Designing a logo, website, or any other visual communication piece involves more than simply slapping some shapes in a Photoshop document. MH Design + Media creates all of our logos in vector format to ensure the highest possible quality graphics for our clients. We also conduct research before we being designing so we can ensure the uniqueness and effectiveness of each concept we develop. Please understand that it does not happen overnight. We are also not a logo generator. Each graphic is digitally drawn just for you.  Much of the process depends on timely and accurate feedback from our clients.

Spec Work

We do not work on spec, so don’t ask. We also do not participate in crowdsourcing sites or design contests. We’re too busy taking care of our clients that actually care about their branding. Not to be snooty, but we believe good design takes time.

If you do not agree with any of the policies above, you have the right to decline to work with MH Design + Media. We also retain the right to choose our clients and projects based on what best fits our schedule. This allows us to provide the best service possible for our clients.
