I’m not one to bring politics into business, but I would like to proudly proclaim that as a business owner, woman, and plain old citizen of the USA, I support Barak Obama for the next President of the United States.
There. I said it. Don’t agree with me? Fine. But don’t slander a good man in the name of lifting up a rich, pompous bastard. And all of you know that’s what McCain is. If he becomes president, it’s likely I won’t be able to express myself like this on my blog, nor will my husband and I be able to afford to support our family.
Barak is in support of small business owners and women. He is more middle-class than McCain will ever be. He IS the minority and he knows what we’ve all been through.
I read a comic strip once that said, “Voting for president is like trying to pick the best mosquito out of the swarm.” Yes, Barak might have his own set of shortcomings, but come on, people! He is the best choice we have. And personally, I think he’ll do a darn good job.
Oh, and this whole “lipstick on a pig” thing is out of control. McCain’s people need to shut the hell up and focus on their own problems – like choosing an inexperienced twit for vice president. Wow. Nice choice, McCain.
Ok, that’s all I really have to say. Mostly I wanted to publicly proclaim my support.

Come on. We all know that there wont be a republican in presidency for a while, so Barack has it in the bag. The thing is, I just hope that he is able to do 1/4 of what he says. Wouldn’t that be nice? A president that even gives it effort? I’d love to see a strong attempt to create a uniform health care – but I know that insurance companies wont let that happen. I’d love to see real help to small businesses – rather than an underfunded, understaffed SBA. I’d love to see schools an actual focus – rather than the majority money going to military and prisons. Will we? Doubtful. But sure, Barack is the better choice… better than McCain, but I wonder how much longer we’ll accept the current form of government – an unchanging machine that promotes a capitalistic society we American’s embrace – and ask for something more. The current system is as outdated as our school systems, but little seems to have changed. Ok, so Barack is in… but it’s the same ‘ol pony show. I support your bravery to be willing to stand by something based on decision rather than tradition.
OK, Since Bri was brave enough to post it, I’ll back her up. Obama won my vote as well, partly because of what he said, but also because of what his opponents have done and what they represent.
One point that I liked was when the question was put to the candidates about what their standpoint was on the issue of raising taxes on the rich while leaving the tax level for middle class wage earners. This was a very enlightening question; they were also asked to define what they thought the income level should be for those considered “rich”. Obama’s answer was something like $250,000 per year. I forget the exact amount he specified but it was what most of us working class citizens would call ‘very well off’. McCain’s idea of “rich”? Again, I forget exactly, but it was over 1 Million per year. Hmmm… how many of you folks who work hard every day and sacrifice time with your families to make ends meet make over a million a year? Yeah… so WHO is more in tune with the middle class?
Another point that completely decided my vote was the bit about Cindy McCain’s wardrobe… and it’s cost. Many of you may remember the same news story, a still of Cindy McCain on a stage somewhere wearing an electric blue outfit that cost $300,000.00 Now… I admit I have very little fashion sense, but does anyone else think there’s something wrong with flaunting a dress that costs more than many middle class homes? That dress could pay for my house twice over!!
In my opinion, McCain and his wife embody much of what the middle class perceives as the stereotypical ‘fat cat republican politician’.
